greetings unleashes new summer single “siccem”

daniel fondue’s greetings project is like that cool, super helpful auntie, checking in on you at a vacation home.  you’re off doing your thing, having a great time, and then you hear a knock at the door.  you turn around, and it’s greetings!  he’s standing there with his apron on, and he’s got some fresh-ass music for you and your friends.  “just checking in,” he says, “i’ll leave this song here if you and the girls want to give it a listen!”  greetings leaves the room, and your friends turn to you and say “wow, [your name], greetings is the best!”  and you just lean back, smirk, and say, “yeah, i know.” and then sniff coolly.

making sure that your summer is great, greetings is back with the third single of the summer: “siccem”, it follows “k.i.e.” and “untitled one”, which is keeping pace with his single-a-month pace.  this time around, greetings has recruited frequent collaborators maebe, chad browne-springer, and eugene junior.  in many ways, “siccem” combines some of the psychedlia of “untitled one” with the electronic fever of “k.i.e.”.  vocals are traded from cool opening bars via eugene junior and the soft lennon-esque phrasing of fondue.  maebe and browne-springer provide the backing vocals; you’ll hear chad hittin’ those signature falsettos.  like many of greetings’ other tunes, this song is a pop swirl, with genre boundaries disintegrating and mixing into each other.  if this doesn’t feel like a connecticut summer, i don’t know what does.

the art of “siccem” was created by taylor pelella (who has been making a lot of beautiful art you can find on instagram and elsewhere).  you can find more music at greetings’ bandcamp page.
