gig of the week(end): joyer + them airs + pulsr + moxie pocket (8/21)

Each week, we’ll plug one show that we excites us.  (We think every show posted on our Gig Calendar is worth checking out, but we wanted to spotlight one in particular).

This week’s Gig of the Week(end) is: Joyer, Them Airs, Pulsr, and Moxie Pocket at The Beeracks in East Haven on August 21 with doors at 6:30PM. The price is FREE. The venue is all ages, but you can purchase alcohol if you are over 21.

What’s the hype? If these four bands were four individual people, I could picture them making a band together. Joyer is an old friend of Connecticut, making it a consistent tour stop in the past few years. Even if you saw them pre-quarantinetimes, the band has a new record they’ll be releasing later in September, so you’ll get a chance to catch these new tunes before anyone else does. The bill is rounded out by three of our very favorite CT bands. We were hyping Them Airs since they became Them Airs (RIP Mirror Waves), and their shows are always a lot of chaotic, strange fun. Shit, even that one gig where they were at Best Video and forgot their cymbals at home — even that show ruled. Pulsr are always good and are a ctverses favorite, even though the band will not return my DMs to record an episode of our podcast. And Moxie Pocket, the newest band on the bill, are fucking great too. We love their barbed and loose post-punk. They’ve only formally released one single so far, so now is your chance to be like “yeah, I saw Moxie Pocket before they were like… the Moxie Pocket.”
