earlier today, news came in about two shows that are super exciting: queen moo’s record release and steve hartlett’s surprise solo set with stef chura.  first, let me tell you about the steve hartlett set, because that’s in just a few days:

steve hartlett is playing a solo show this wednesday 7/10 with stef chura and french vanilla.  that’ll be at the space ballroom in hamden at 7PM, and if i’m being honest with you, this gig is a sure-thing even without hartlett on the bill; french vanilla and stef chura are both awesome.  however, hartlett — who you may know from ovlov and stove, one of CT’s finest songwriters — has teased that not only will this be his first solo show in about a year, but that he’ll be previewing some songs that’ll be on upcoming stove/ovlov records.  so what more do you need, buster?  you can buy the tickets ($12 adv) online right now, and i’d encourage you to do so because it’s a front-room show (i.e., smaller, intimate setting).

and for the other great news:

queen moo have set a time for their record release show!  it’s no surprise that i loved their new record, faint sounds of us hanging out, and if you haven’t checked it out, work on that immediately.  but when the band announced the surprise album, they also hinted that they would be working towards an august release show, and they made good on that promise.  august 25th at the state house in new haven!  the band are known for their energetic and passionate live show, so if you can make it, i hope to see you there! you can buy tickets ahead of time for an absolute steal ($10), and supporting acts have yet to be announced.  i’d love for you to speculate wildly, though, so send me your thoughts about who should play with queen moo in august!
