gig of the week(end): a dozen+ great artists will ask you “how are dem apples” at the glastonbury apple harvest and music festival! (10/15-17)

Each week, we’ll plug one show that we excites us.  (We think every show posted on our Gig Calendar is worth checking out, but we wanted to spotlight one in particular).

This week’s Gig of the Week(end) is: The annual Glastonbury Apple Harvest and Music Festival, starting Friday (10/15) and lasting until Sunday (10/17) at Riverfront Park in Glastonbury. There is no entrance fee, but to see the bands, you’ll have to enter the Harvest Pub, which has a $5 cover charge. Live music via 16 musical acts will be spread through the event (see times below). The venue is all ages, and alcohol is only available for folks over 21.

What’s the hype? Not sure how many ways I can rephrase this, but: there are 16 musical acts at this festival, including some of our very favorite CT artists. If you’ve never been the Glastonbury Apple Harvest, it’s exactly what it sounds like plus more. Grab an apple pie, down an apple cider, and then ride carnival rides while you’re about to burst from all the apple pie/cider indulgence. Oh, and there’s a 5K, but c’mon man I’m gonna be too stuffed from apple cobbler to even look at someone running. It’s a fun, wholesome time even before you introduce the amazing line-up of artists this year:

Friday’s Line-Up: Desiree Camille, Fast River, Tang Sauce, and Becky Kessler, from 6PM to 10PM.

Saturday’s Line-Up: Heather McLarney, KC Beauregard, Ramblin’ Dan Stevens, BEPW Band, Foolish Wisely, The Bargain, Audio Jane, Among the Acres, Violet Dusk, and Dust Hat, from Noon to 10PM.

Sunday’s Line-Up: Meggie and the Split Coils from Noon to 2PM.

So based on those line-ups which day would be best to attend? Well, kinda all of them, to be honest. On Friday, we’re especially excited to be see Tang Sauce from Hartford and Becky Kessler (of Violent Mae) perform solo; on Saturday, it’d be painful to miss an Audio Jane set, and we haven’t seen Dust Hat get loud and wild since their Cafe Nine rooftop throwdown; and on Sunday, we’ve covered both Meggie and Split Coils recently on this here website, so you know we’d love to see them too. So to conclude, how about you just go all three days?

OK see you there! (Thanks Chip McCabe / The Metal Dad)
