don’t wait until sunday morning to check out sunday morning’s “ailment”

it’s saturday, mid-day but it’s time to listen to some sunday morning.  yeah, i bet the durham ct’s finest punk band still finds that joke funny, right?  but hey, now that you’re here, let me tell you about their new single, “ailment.”  it’s a 3-and-a-half minute of power, with huge melodies and a minute-long finale that had me nearly fist-pumping alone in my house.  and look, i’ll be upfront about my own biases: i’m a typical indie-rock windbag, so getting into sunday morning’s music took me (a little bit) out of my comfort zone.  but on the first listen to “ailment’, you’ll be hooked.  it reminded me a little of thrice and a little of finch — two of my favorite bands from back in the day.  “ailment” goes hard: part post-hardcore, part power-punk-pop.  and hey, maybe even a little dash of emo (add to taste).

“ailment” is the latest single for the band, who might be working on releasing more new music soon.  look, i’m not saying that i have an insider connection, or someone who has been feeding me whispers in a shadowy corridor, but after 2017’s dueling eps everything that could go right, did and anything that can go wrong will, we’re due for a new release soon, even if it is just to collect the excellent “ailment”, “in all honesty”, and “ten years” singles. sunday morning is Dom Barone, Erik Stanzel, Parker Dumont, and Westly Benjunas, you can find them on instagram and facebook.
