tiny box booking has been really busy the past week, setting up several gigs you are really going to want to see.

the Slingshot Dakota show on june 1 now has newly added supporting local acts Tier and Perennial. if you haven’t listened to Perennial yet, it’s time to educate yourself: (bandcamp link). it’s gonna be a great show at MAC 650.

two other non-locals acts were booked at MAC 650: Horse Jumper of Love (july 6) and And The Kids (july 19) with The Harmleighs. both And The Kids and Horse Jumper of Love are from Massachusetts and definitely worth your time, but they’re quite different. with Horse Jumper, you’ve got some hazy, surreal rock that moves in slow motion; with And The Kids, you’ve got punchy, earnest songwriting with some phenomenal musicians. if you get a chance to see their drummer… gee whiz. they’re pretty incredible.  (see the above featured image, where they perform both drums + chimes like it’s ndb).

and just to show that i’m not a shill for tiny box, let’s talk about some other shows.

GILT will be in CT for a few days, and you can catch them this friday night with Similar Kind and Two Headed Girl at the darien depot.

i was a little late to add the GILT / Similar Kind / Busani / Zebvlon (may 25) show at C**** H****. i have no doubt it’ll be great — i saw Similar Kind open up for Bad Bad Hats, and they really stole the show. incredibly tight, high energy. you’ll want to catch this one. ask a punk for the address.

(non-local) Weyes Blood has announced a proper tour for her amazing Titanic Rising album. she’ll be stopping by the space ballroom on september 6, but tickets won’t go up for sale until this friday (may 24). she’s a captivating performer, and like i said — Titanic Rising is definitely an album worth your time (her best album to date, which is quite a claim).

and hey, if you’re not on the upcoming gig calendar already, let me know!
