gig of the week(end): chousand’s ep release show with jophus, waking up now, and sunday morning! (9/4)

Each week, we’ll plug one show that we excites us.  (We think every show posted on our Gig Calendar is worth checking out, but we wanted to spotlight one in particular).

This week’s Gig of the Week(end) is: Chousand’s release show for their new EP, Nothing Makes Sense on September 4th at the Beeracks in East Haven. The line-up includes Chousand, Waking Up Now, Sunday Morning, and Jophus (Kory from Prince Daddy and the Hyena). The price is FREE, but consider laying down a donation at the door (even if it’s just a couple of bucks) for the bands. The venue is all ages, and alcohol is for sale if you are 21+.

What’s the hype? We love Chousand’s new EP, and they always put on a great, fun live show. You can expect good stage banter, some light dancing on stage, and people singing along with the giant catchy choruses. Waking Up Now, from Trumbull, is an excellent emo / twinkle / shoegazey band, and they’ve just released a single earlier this week. Sunday Morning’s heavy, melodic emo sounds fantastic live. And Jophus will be fun, and a quick return from Kory, who (with P-Daddy) helped sell out the Space Ballroom earlier this year.
