interview: Chef the Chef, it’s a quest!

We get a chance to talk with one of our favorite musicians: Chef the Chef from Bridgeport!  In this interview / episode of the podcast, we talk with Chef about his new EP, Junkfood, translating music into a live experience, what it’s like to work as a teacher, and whether CatDog is fit to rap about.  We also talk about the Quest music collective, being baptized in Crunch House, and the highs and lows of producing your own tracks as a rapper (or rapping on your own tracks as a producer).

Chef the Chef’s musical signature is versatile beatmaking and production coupled with sharp, clever rhymes.  2021’s Junkfood embodies this, as Chef restlessly moves from idea to idea, switching up sounds and song structures to make his points.  And while that may all sound heady, the truth is Chef’s music is a blast.  That also translates into his live performances where he easily wins over the crowd with his energy and charisma.

Our interview with Chef the Chef covers all of this and more, including how he stays involved in the community, what “Super Battle Opera” is, and who he mains in League of Legends (we saved the most important question for last).  You can find our podcast episode at any of the usual streaming platforms or at one of the embeds below!  86 the sea bass!
