In this interview, I ask Violet about their upcoming album, DIY ghosts, the sexism of industry plant accusations, and what to do with unwanted cucumbers. We talk about the band’s debut album, NO BOYS, and the band’s experience of writing / recording / mixing it themselves. Powerviolets’ music is loud, cool, catchy, and funny. The band’s first record, NO BOYS, was one of our favorite albums of 2020, and “It’s So Fucking Beautiful Outside” was one of our favorite tracks of 2020 as well. It’s like a mix of sarcastic cynicism and restless ennui run through a distortion pedal. They’ve already released a few tracks in 2021, including a cover of a Nickelback song (yes, you read that correctly), and a killer demo from their upcoming second album.
