premiere: ditch boys get robbed in new haven in the new music video for “dead broke”

Today, we are excited to premiere the music video for Ditch Boys’ new song “Dead Broke”!  Back in March of 2020, we covered Ditch Boys’ new EP, Saboteur, and since then, the coronavirus kind of put the brakes on everything (including Ditch Boys shows).  But since then, the Boys have been writing and recording new material, and “Dead Broke” is the first taste of the new juice.

“Dead Broke” is the new single from the band’s upcoming album National Libation Front (a title of which I’m jealous I didn’t come up with first), and features the band in their original line-up of Mike Holler and Eric Mooney.  Previous members Marco Carotenuto and James Dorsey (both of whom are on Saboteur) left the group after the quarantine began, but don’t worry — everybody is still friends.  Sorry.  I wish I could give you some juicy, raw gossip, like a bank heist went sideways or one of the members joined the circus, but it was simply creative differences.

The music video for “Dead Broke” is ct-verses-bait if there’s ever been such a thing. A Connecticut band walking around a Connecticut town while Connecticut music plays? Check out the video (embedded above) as Ditch Boy Mike Holler gets threatened with a switchblade by Ditch Boy Eric Mooney. Also check out the video for the several notable New Haven storefronts. It’s like nutmeg bingo! Hello, College Street Music, we miss you. 🙁 I cannot believe there is not a Ditch Boy Switchblade piece of merch yet.

“Dead Broke” and the other upcoming songs from National Libation Front were recorded at Sans Serif Studio (in New Haven) and at Mike Holler’s home studio. The track was produced (mixed, mastered) by Holler. If you like this crunchy rock-n-roll sound, you can find more of it at Ditch Boys’ bandcamp page (including a new track called “Desensitized”).
