lyme’s baroque pop trio are back with a new song — “i don’t wanna take too much” is a gorgeous single that feels like a little slice of new england autumn that has arrived early.  “i don’t wanna take too much” comes ahead of the brazen youth’s new album, 15 billion eyes*, which is set for release on september 19th.  you can find the stream on spotify directly below.

when i’ve tried to describe the brazen youth’s sound, i inevitably bring up grizzly bear — not because the band really sounds like them, but because the same attention to melody and harmony that you can hear on the best grizzly bear songs are present on all of the brazen youth’s works.  they’re careful songwriters, but their music bristles with energy.  the brazen youth are Nicholas Lussier, Charles Dahlke, & Micah Rubin, and according to their facebook, they’ve self-described their sound as ashlawn farm indie, and you know what?  i won’t argue with that even if i don’t totally understand.  it feels right.  the band have made a video for “i don’t wanna take too much”, and it is set to premiere in three days.  i’m embedding that video below, so that if you happen to be reading this later in the week, it’ll be free for you to check out.

here are their upcoming dates — pay close attention to the one in old saybrook!  keep an eye out for more as 15 billion eyes gets closer to its release.

July 26th – Old Saybrook, CT. @The Kate – tickets
August 23rd – Wakefield, RI. @Pump House Music Works – tickets
October 17th – Queens, NY. @Trans-Pecos – tickets
October 25th – Atlanta, GA @The Masquerade – tickets

*maybe a riff on lady lamb’s song “billions of eyes”?
