“echo park bomb city. a new LP from them airs being released at an unspecified date sometime in the near future.” that was the cryptic warning them airs offered back in march. and while the band has been busy between now and then, things are starting to suddenly ramp up for the release of echo park bomb city.  only a few days ago, the band announced that the album would be coming out on june 8, and now, as reported on the venerable ct scramble, them airs just gave us a taste of what is in store for us on their debut full-length record.  the single, “tunxis valley”, is a propulsive post-krautrock / post-punk track.  and friends, this song fucking rules.  i’m not just saying this because as a music blogger, everything i say about new music is vaguely positive, i’m saying it because it’s the gatdamn truth.  it feels like a little devo, a little parquet courts, and *takes a big sniff* guerilla toss’s wiry guitars?  ah yeah, that’s the stuff.

but maybe you’ve heard the song already.  “tunxis valley” was originally released back in march as part of the band’s river defender, reflector, refractor, river, crypt mask anthology ep.  because there is not formal tracklisting for echo park bomb city yet, it is unclear if other tracks from that ep will show up on them airs’ debut album.  if you’ve heard those tracks, though, i’m sure you won’t mind.
