and now we turn to dave with the week’s eel people / falkowski report

thank you darrell.  if you remember last week, we predicted an incoming eel front.  we just didn’t expect it so soon.  given the doppler forecast, we told you that there would be new eel people hitting us friday, august 1, but last night, some of you may have felt a fresh, unexpected batch of songs released.  yes, the new close your eyes ep made landfall around midnight: three new songs that precede the still-expected a posh & destructive cycle on friday.  let’s take a close look.

here you can see these three songs are a little different from what you might expect in a typical eel people release.  notably, close your eyes represents the introduction of longtime collaborator as an official eel people member.  an eel person, if you will.  this merging of talents may not come as a surprise to fans — both rex thurstan and matt falkowski have worked together on several releases in the past year, feeding off of each other’s energy and creativity.  and it sounds like what you might get if you combined bad posture with forgiving my humanity.

and if you’ve checked your almanacs, you’ll see that another matt falkowski record may be ready to harvest soon. seemingly confirming those estimates, falkowski has released “paint”, the first single from their upcoming album (of the same name?). the single comes with a video which lives up to its name: falkowski is covered in paint (see below). you’re almost sure to hear it at the upcoming he was an artist, she was a carpenter album release show on august 10th.
