gig of the week(end): the most come home with nikita and zanders! (10/9)

Each week, we’ll plug one show that we excites us.  (We think every show posted on our Gig Calendar is worth checking out, but we wanted to spotlight one in particular).

This week’s Gig of the Week(end) is: The Most, Nikita, and Zanders’ show on October 9 at the State House in New Haven. The price is $12 if you didn’t buy an advanced ticket. The doors open at 7PM (the show will start promptly at 8PM). The venue is all ages, and alcohol is only available for folks over 21. Importantly: to enter, you must bring proof of covid-19 vaccination or a recent negative test.

What’s the hype? Last week, we were pleased to check out the State House’s reopening, and this weekend gives us a great reason to go right back inside. Imagine this scene: it’s pre-covidtimes, and Connecticut’s premiere math / jazz / avant garde punk band The Most was just wrapping up their west coast tour. The plan was to wrap the tour up with a nice little victory lap in New Haven, a homecoming show. And this weekend, that long overdue show takes place, with the band taking the stage, getting weird, and getting cathartic. The Most will be supported by Nikita and Zanders, both bands I’m sure need no introduction to you, dear reader, because they are two of the best CT bands in the biz. Nikita is a smooth, funky outfit from Hartford, and Zanders is a baroque pop trio who craft some of the finest songs period full stop. All three of these bands have really special live presences: The Most can get a crowd to sing along to a proggy opera, Nikita gently raises the temperature of the room, and Zanders is delightfully arch. Come on, it’s gonna be great.

OK see you there!
