A Middletown Venue Needs Your Help + Benefit Show

There ain’t a vaccine for DIY venues.  We lost a lot of great ones in 2020, and there are still spots that are threatened from the financial fallout of COVID.  (Pour one out for MAC 650 in Middletown, NG2BC in New Haven, the Acoustic in Bridgeport, and that one spot that kept changing names in West Haven).  Unfortunately there’s another DIY spot that is in danger of being evicted, and they need our help!

We saw some really great shows at 52 N Main in Middletown (also nicknamed The Red Room), and we’d love to do that again!  But right now, the owners of the space (the Rednawa Collective) need some assistance if they want to continue throwing shows.  And hey, you, dear reader, you can help!  You can help in one of three ways:

[1] A Benefit Show!  On July 15, Tiny Box Booking (hi Brandon) and the Rednawa Collective (who operate the space) are hosting a live show with some great bands.  Come thru and donate a few bucks if you can!  Who’s on the bill?  Thank you for asking.  It’s LITVAR (Rex and Joe slingin tunes), PULSR (<3), WAKING UP NOW (one of our senator’s favorite bands), and THE PROBLEM WITH KIDS TODAY (loud, noisy, and fun!).  I know right?  You’ll feel great after watching these bands, but you’ll feel even better knowing that you are helping save an independent space for live music.  Here’s the facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/324932119339195/.

[2] The Gofundme Page!  If you aren’t able to make the benefit show, you can throw a few rubles in support via the Gofundme page that the Rednawa Collective have set up.  And hey, no pressure dude, because they’ve already met their $2,000 goal.  Somebody dropped a whopping $1,200 donation to get them over the top.  But any and every penny raised beyond that goal will be used to protect the space as live shows begin to come back to Connecticut.  Here’s the page: https://gofund.me/ea50b30e .

[3] Tell a Friend!  If you’re not able to make it to the benefit show or support the space financially, consider finding a friend who can.  I don’t mean just posting this stuff to your social media accounts – reach out personally to someone!  Just be like “hey, have you listened to Pulsr yet?  they’re playing a show at this place, etc etc etc.”  Well, you wouldn’t say “etc” literally in the chat, but you would fill that in with your own smalltalk.  You’re a person.  You’ve done smalltalk before.
