yes! 100 brand new songs that are excellent and absolutely worth your time. thank you for sticking with us this year. compiling the top 100 songs of 2020 was incredibly hard for us to do because (1) there was just so much great music, and (2) actually, the first reason is pretty much it. if you count closely, you may find that there this is just a little bit more than 100, but i made up the rules and don’t care. if your favorite band’s song is not on this list, i’m sorry. you know how ctverses is — we skew more towards the indie rock side of things, so we miss a lot of country, americana, hip hop, and dance music.
here are the rules: (1) only one song per artist [with the only exception being a very good collaboration], (2) no remixes, and (3) no covers. we’ve listed it all in alphabetical order, but we give special priority to the songs that are not on spotify. why? because even though everyone knows that spotify is bad for artists, we feel pressured to have our music listed there just so it can get heard. that’s why we’re frontloading this list with those artists. if you don’t like it, sorry but those are the rules i made up. we’ve also made a spotify playlist with these songs, but we recommend that you only use it to explore. please buy this music if you have the means — we have direct links to these bandcamps below. ok thank you for reading, thank you for listening, goodbye goodbye goodbye.
