on the eve of their debut ep, i got a chance to talk with Dan Deutsch from Hartford’s Portrait Party. if you haven’t had a chance to listen to Portrait Party yet, the trio is part-indie rock, part-prog pop, part-jazz jam. in 2019 they released two singles, won the Hartford Courant’s CT NOW Best Indie Rock Band award, and gained an impressive following. the band use their self-titled ep as a chance to explore the different corners and styles of their influences. i talk about all of this with Dan along with the band’s plans to launch a Portrait Party cruise sometime later this year.*
