you can make a venn-diagram of things that i am interested in: one big circle for connecticut music (cf., this here blog) and another big circle for things that reference connecticut (cf., Gilmore Girls, or The Ice Storm, or even that part of Happy Gilmore).  and where those circles overlap, you’ll find Low Ceilings’ new single “New England Tune”.  like the song suggests, it is a tune that references new england — not a novel song about britain.  easy mistake to make, i know.

anyways, “New England Tune” is the first single from the upcoming Low Ceilings album Learn to Sew.  Low Ceilings is the folk / indie-rock project of singer/songwriter Ben Mueller.  he’s recorded and compiled a lyric video (see below) for “New England Tune”, a song that cleverly and playfully references love and geography.  i may presume that on Mueller’s venn-diagram of things he is interested in, one big circle for geography, one big circle for love, and “New England Tune” falls in the overlapping common area of the two.

“and i’ve got connecticut in my blood / i’m overlooked and underused”.  damn, i felt that.

Learn to Sew is set for a January 10 release, but for now, you can get this early peek on your streaming service of preference!  (and if you want a live video, you can find an early performance here!)
