the marvelous lucy dacus is coming to the great state of connecticut, but let me tell you why this annoys me. if you didn’t hear last year’s historian, it is a fantastic record. personal, strong, gripping — it’s just really, really good stuff. she’s also a member of boygenius along with phoebe bridgers and julien baker. she is coming to hamden (the space ballroom) on 9/11. cause for celebration, right? well maybe for you. after all, you can go. i already booked tickets for some overpriced stupid thing in hartford. so go on: go see lucy dacus and have a great (and emotional) time.
also added to the the space ballroom’s lineup is mike watt (10/10) and weyes blood (9/6). mike watt is an absolute legend in the punk community, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a cooler dude and better bassist. he’s stopping by CT where i’m sure he’ll put on an amazing show. i’ll be there. you’ll be there too, if you know what’s good for you. and weyes blood? sister, i’ve already got my ticket ordered. you’ll see me there — a golden retriever, howling along with “andromeda” and “everyday”. her album titanic rising is one of 2019’s finest. it’s a cool, intergalactic mix of the carpenters and leonard cohen, if you can imagine that. beautiful music. put these on your calendar.
