mark this down as one of the only times i’ve been happy that two bands are leaving connecticut. loud noise duo doom beach and the dark metal let’s get invisible are taking their show on the road, starting on august 17 and returning back august 31. check the above poster* for specifics, but they’ll be headed to chicago, and then down to the southeast before making their way back up to connecticut.
and hey, when they’re back in connecticut, we’ll all celebrate with a homecoming show at the church in hamden!
in case you haven’t seen either of these bands before, they’re quite different from one another, but their uniting characteristics are that they are loud, dark, and awesome. i remember my first doom beach show: the two band members were such sweethearts before the show, that i didn’t know what to expect from their music. when their set began, the guitar playing played a few chords, let it sustain and feedback through their amps, and then set the guitar on the concrete floor while he ran into the crowd to start the pit going while singing. it was an exercise in fun, brutal controlled chaos. let’s get invisible’s sets are similarly explosive, with the band erupting song-by-song, like tectonic plates crashing into one another.
