local power-pop stalwarts spectral fangs may have called it a day last year, but don’t cry dear reader. the spirit of spectral fangs lives on in the new project of bass/vox Tony Mascolo: big fang. the new band has a sound all its own, but many of the hallmarks you loved about spectral fangs — the big choruses, the muscular grooves, the unabashed love and influence of pop music — is back on big fang. the band is rounded out with grayson jeffries on guitar (Will Grayson), Chris Otero on bass (So Sorry), and Jacob Doherty on drums (Lea).
the band first previewed their sound at new haven’s state house in october, and now they’re back with a new EP, human distance, out on june 7. and if you can’t wait for june 7, you can hear a slice of human distance early — big fang just dropped “who knows you”, the first single from the ep. check it out below with the bandcamp link or find it on spotify!
