gig of the week(end): perennial take on middletown with minus points, quinn, and (the new) heart shaped lakes! (9/10)

Each week, we’ll plug one show that we excites us.  (We think every show posted on our Gig Calendar is worth checking out, but we wanted to spotlight one in particular).

This week’s Gig of the Week(end) is: Perennial, Minus Points, Quinn, and Heart Shaped Lakes on September 10th at 52 N Main Street in Middletown. The price is only 10 bucks, and the doors open at 6PM (the show will start promptly at 7PM). The venue, run by the Rednawa Collective, is all ages, and alcohol is NOT permitted on the premises. Please be respectful of that!

What’s the hype? Perennial is one of our very favorite bands, so any show they play is well worth the hype. New Haven Independent writer Karen Ponzio described their live show like biting into a piece of candy, but inside your brain. They’re fast, catchy, and loud. AND they just finished putting the final touches on their upcoming album, so you may be able to hear a taste of that before it’s released! The other bands on the bill are also some of our favorites: Minus Points (members of Waking Up Now and Jules Burne) only have a demo out, so you’ll need to see them so that you can tell people that you saw Minus Points before they headlined a tour in the midwest. Quinn’s solo performances are cathartic and usually pretty wholesome [Quinn is a competitor for the prestigious “best stage banter” award]. And Heart Shaped Lakes is the new band from CT/MA made of members from Goldflame (RIP). There’s something for everybody!
