goldflame is a connecticut band, don’t @ me. sure, lead songwriter/frontman jackson donovan (not donovan jackson) may live in massachusetts, but it’s like right there on the border. also, goldflame hasn’t played a massachusetts show since 2015, and with an upcoming ct show — and an important one — slated for august 10, 2019, i feel comfortable saying that goldflame are nutmeggers.

anyways, i’m not here to yell at a cloud on goldflame’s behalf. instead, i’m here to tell you about their new video for “loose lips sink ships.” you may have heard the song already — the album from which is comes, the deep end, came out last year. it’s a nice slice of pop-punk / emo. take a great melody, crank up the BPMs, throw in some slick guitars, and you’ve got yourself “loose lips sink ships.” the video, directed by benjamin bradley-gilbert, is pretty straight forward, all things considered, but there are two things that i really like about it: (1) it looks fantastic, and (2) it has such a wide aspect ratio, that it’d make david lean or stanley kubrick blush. oh, actually make that three things: i also really like watching the drummer, who has impeccable posture and seems to be having the time of his life. go ahead, check out this summer anthem while these boys bask in the golden hour.

check out the video below, go buy the deep end, and check goldflame out on august 10th in new britain!
