It’s back!  You may remember when the quarantine began in full back in 2020, the good folks at Bandcamp would periodically waive their platform fee for all purchases.  That meant that the artists you bought music from would receive close to 100% of the money you spent on their pages*.  This first Friday of August, they’re back at it again, waiving their platform fee, so if you have a few extra coins in your purse, consider throwing it at an artist you love!  In many cases, the money you spend might not even make a dent in the costs of recording + performing, but think of it as a way to show those bands that you want to hear more of their stuff, that their art is of value, and that it means something to you that you would rather spend it on a song of theirs instead of a cookie at Subway.

We’ve made two playlists for you to get you started!  (These playlists are hosted on BNDCMPR, which you can use to organize playlists of bandcamp songs, and you can buy what you like).

Link to the New Favorites: https://bndcmpr.co/383bea1f. We’re including brand new songs from Olive Tiger, Rosemary Minkler, The World is a Beautiful Place, Audio Jane, The Brazen Youth, and many more!

Link to the CT Music Classics: https://bndcmpr.co/059d0e70 .  This playlist features many of our favorite songs from recent years.  This would be a good one to start with if you are new to Connecticut Music!  This playlist includes Jelani Sei, Perennial, Crag Mask, Chousand, Cinema Stare, Laundry Day, Sean Henry, and also many more!  🙂

And finally, if you are a Spotify user and you’re looking to try a platform you don’t feel guilty about (because as you know, 300 streams on Spotify nets the artist about $1.00), there is a helpful took that will convert your playlists to Bandcamp links!  You can find the “Merch Table” machine HERE.  Just copy and paste your Spotify playlists in that machine, and it’ll show you how you can support the artists you love, even if it’s just with a buck.

So if you use Spotify, you can try our curated playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5zKJnrXb8SMouJymwLJzZU?si=9671a3f90f954a46 .  Try it out and let us know how it works for you!

* If you use PayPal, that still incurs its automatic fee, so just consider that when you use Bandcamp. It’s not a substantial fee (like 10%, but it can make a difference if you are spending a lot of your hard-earned dough!).
