that bouncing baby boy, OLD SELF’s album Word Art Gallery is two years old!  you know what that means — the album is now able to sort objects by their shape and color, climb on and off of furniture without help, and point to things or people when they are named.  we are entering Word Art Gallery‘s “terrible twos” with a sweet gift, though: a remix of “What’s My Age Again (Again)”.  OLD SELF released some of our favorite music of 2019, so we are stoked to have more Brain Stringcheese in our lives.  the new remix, premiering today, comes with an awesome video — check it out below.

the remix, which was produced by Rich Courage, is a blown-out and chopped take on the original.  it’s a colorful, saturated track, and it matches OLD SELF’s narration of cultural overload.  it feels stuffed, like it is packed to the brim with sound.  the video, also directed by Rich Courage, is a frenetic collage of pop culture, glitched graphics, and internet detritus.  hey, you know that any video that includes a deepfried clip of Home Improvement has my heart.  Lt Headtrip also features for some guest vocals here.  and look, i’m not going to say that this remix is better than the original because music isn’t about competition, and it would be silly to compare to versions of the same song like that.  but this remix is even better than the original.

Word Art Gallery is celebrating its second year on this terrible planet by also going pay-what-you-want on bandcamp.  you can get yourself a copy HERE, especially if you haven’t heard it before.  what the fuck dude.  have you really not heard “Wicky Wild (Wild West)?”
