help build sans serif’s studio by completing that 4-song ep you’ve been promising your family for three years already

the past few months have shown how strong and generous the CT music scene is.  the NG2BC gofundme (to keep it running for a third year) was super successful, the MAC650 gofundme (as it enters a new stage of ownership) is ongoing, and the ctverses benefit compilation (you listened to it already, right?!) raised a lot of money for mental health.  let me tell you about the newest way to help the community: Sans Serif Recordings has announced a gofundme campaign to help build their studio.

if you don’t know Sans Serif Recordings by name, i’m almost certain you’ve heard something they’ve touched in the past two years. remember that awesome Glambat EP? or Evelyn Gray’s terrific album? and SHY’s beautiful Former? or most recently, the new Lea single and Killer Kin EP? or what about [and i swear this is the last one i’ll bring up] that Fiction Kids record i wouldn’t shut up about? since its start, Sans Serif has been a mobile operation, and now Sam Carlson (Ports of Spain / S.G. “Solid Guitar” Carlson) and Pat Dalton (The Proud Flesh) are building out the studio into a permanent space in downtown New Haven.

to raise money for this, they are offering discount “pre-sale” projects. for example, if you donate $75 to the campaign, they’ll record a rhythm section for your song. if you throw down $100, you can record a voice-over for your movie. and if you pledge $200? that’s a whole song, including all recording and mixing. i know you’ve been telling your friends that your 4-song EP, Erased Ideas from Mars, will definitely be out some time this year. now is your chance to make it a reality!

studio rates are determined by song rather than by the hour. you know what that means, right? time to roll up with a 45-minute long, multi-part post-rock suite. and you know what i mean by “roll up” [sunglasses emoji]. i know Big Fang, Olive Tiger, and Lea have all recently recorded with Sans Serif — i wonder if any of them recorded their own 45-minute opus using this life hack. [actually, let’s not do this]. check out the below link for the gofundme campaign and video.

in other news, the S.G. Carlson facebook page has changed its banner and profile picture. hmm. i wonder what that could mean.
